The Pro Bono Center of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation will celebrate National Pro Bono Week with a variety of events in October. Pro Bono Week is an opportunity to thank volunteers, recognize the life-changing work that pro bono attorneys perform on behalf of low-income clients, and recruit and train additional volunteers.
Here are some ways to join the celebration!
12:00 – 1:30 p.m., Rivers Club
The Public Service Committee will thank and recognize volunteers who provide pro bono legal services to low-income clients through Pro Bono Center member organizations and projects. This event is FREE to Pro Bono Center volunteers.
Join us for a buffet lunch at the Rivers Club. No long speeches, just an opportunity to celebrate with fellow volunteers and recognize the winners of the 2017 Pro Bono Achievement Awards. Plus door prizes!
Click here to RSVP by Oct. 16.
5:00 – 6:30 p.m., K&L Gates
The Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership will hold its annual meeting and reception on October 24, 5:00-6:30 p.m., at the offices of K&L Gates. This year’s meeting will include an update of the Partnership's activities over the past year and will feature a judicial panel discussion on the importance and future of pro bono work.
Participating judges include:
5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Rivers Club
Come relax after work and enjoy a cocktail mixed by guest bartenders Bryan Neft, President-Elect of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and Pro Bono Award winner Joe Williams. The evening will include free appetizers and a raffle—all are welcome! Proceeds will benefit the Pro Bono Center.
Ask your firm or corporation to hold a dress-down day for a good cause! Here’s how it works: Employees of participating offices make a small donation (ex. $5, $10, etc.) for the right to dress in casual attire for the day instead of traditional business wear. Each office collects the donations from employees and sends the total amount collected to the Allegheny County Bar Foundation. 100% of the proceeds go toward supporting programs that provide free legal services to low-income residents of Allegheny County. 5:30 p.m., Renaissance Hotel
The Board of Trustees of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation will host an evening of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as we celebrate the foundation’s programs and accomplishments over the past year. We will induct the Fellows Class of 2017, present the 2017 Pro Bono Achievement Awards, and hear from Fellows grant recipients who are making an impact in the community. Click here to register.
