Defendants must apply in person at the Public Defender’s office. Client interviews are conducted Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 3:45 p.m.  Every applicant must bring a copy of their charges and verification of income or support. 


Provides legal counsel to indigent defendants in the following matters:
Any proceeding where personal liberty is in jeopardy
Criminal extradition proceedings
Critical pretrial identification procedures
Involuntary commitment under the Mental Health Procedures Act
Pennsylvania Supreme Court appeals
Person is charged with juvenile delinquency
Post conviction hearings at the trial and appellate levels
Preliminary hearings
Probation and parole violation hearings
State habeas corpus proceedings
State trials, including pretrial and post-trial motions
Superior Court appeals
